Ithaca’s Regal Cinemas reportedly won’t reopen before 2021

Cineworld, which owns the biggest chain of movie theatres in the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as U.S. second-biggest chain Regal Cinemas, is reportedly closing all of its theatres that have remained open or reopened this year. Ithaca's Regal Cinemas at the Shops at Ithaca Mall closed in March and has not reopened, though movie theatres in some areas have been able to.

"COVID is getting worse by the day. All around the country. The fall surge is here," said Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in a statement on Wednesday afternoon. Stewart's Shops will reach the Ithaca area later this year, as the 75-year-old chain of ice cream shops, convenience stores, and gas stations takes over a string of Blueox Neighborhood Market and Nice 'n Easy stores from Blueox Corporation. The Valero Nice 'n Easy Grocery Shop at the intersection of Route 13 and Route 366 near NYSEG will be rebranded as a Stewart Shop's location.

Ithaca’s first drive-through Starbucks is opening next week in Threshold Plaza

Ithaca has had two standalone Starbucks cafés since 2005, when they opened on busy corners in Downtown Ithaca and Collegetown, as well as partner locations inside Barnes & Noble in Ithaca's Southwest and Target at the Shops at Ithaca Mall. But Ithaca's very first drive-through Starbucks location has its grand opening next Monday, January 17th.

Lansing Market will close in December, the independent grocery confirms

The Lansing Market, an independent grocery store that opened 11 years ago at the intersection of North Triphammer and Peruville Roads, will close sometime in December, store officials confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.
